History of the family Jeandrevin from Orvin
It is one of the oldest families in the village. Johanes de Orvan is mentioned in 1439
as governor of the Church, in 1453, Johan de Orwin, probably the same one, pays a fine
to the Tax Collector of H.H. (The Prince of Diocese of Basel). In 1539, in a German document,
Hans Durving. We find the name written in just one word for the first time in 1649:
Jeandorvins, later Jeandervin and finally Jeandrevin. Elie Jeandrevin qualifies
as a lawyer on June 4, 1697. A. Quiquerez, in his armorial manuscript deposited with the
University of Basle Library, said : One of the members of the family who had been
a soldier in foreign lands had adopted these armorial bearings : "de gueules au dextrochère
tenant un collier de perles d'argent avec une couronne d'or en chef ; support un homme d'armes".
Quiquerez does not say where he found these armorial bearings.

Family's actualities
A descendant of this family Daniel Jeandrevin holds with his wife the restaurant
"Le Grillon" in the "Prés d'Orvin" (Orvin's meadows).
It is mountain restaurant, which we can recommend, because you will find an excellent
table in a dreaming landscape.
If you are going thru Orvin, make a stop in the grocer's shop opposite the church, because it is held by the sisters Jeandrevin: Francine and Corinne, descendants from this family. It is a charming store where you can find fresh products of our region as milk from the village.
