It is one of the oldest families. Colet Franc appears in 1434 in the "Schaffners Rechnungen";
Herich Franck in 1447; der Fran von Ullingen; in 1448; the sons Jehan le Franc in 1507, etc.
The bearers of this name were originally freed from certain obligations or taxes.
The family produced the lawyers Pierre Aufranc, mentioned in 1568; Peterman Autranc who drew
up legal documents from 1666 to 1694; Jean-Henri Aufranc qualified as a lawyer on November 24 1699.
David Aufranc was a school teacher from 1777-79.
